Water and Climate Change - Presentation by Michal Koch, Program Associate for Water and Climate Change at the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok

Freshwater is one of Thailand’s most vital resources, shaping agriculture, industry, and daily life. Yet the country faces growing challenges from climate change: increasingly unpredictable monsoon rains, severe droughts and floods, rising sea levels, and pressures on urban and agricultural water supply.

In this talk, Michael Koch, Program Associate for Water and Climate Change at the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok, explored how climate change is affecting Thailand’s water resources today, what future scenarios may look like, and which strategies could help the country adapt. His talk gave insights into the delicate balance between nature, people, and policy in one of Southeast Asia’s most water-dependent nations.
