Das vielseitige Programm des Weekends mit Besichtigung der Silverlake Winery am Samstag und dem Sonntagsbrunch wird in einem separaten Bericht dokumentiert.

Schlank und Fit ins 2020 - Diesen guten Vorsätze für das neue Jahr kann man mit dem attraktiven Programm in Pattaya, mit dem Dinner im legendären Casa Pascal (https://restaurant-in-pattaya.com/de/)leicht vergessen.

Immerhin 41 Mitglieder wollten dieses Highlight nicht verpassen, Gaumenfreuden und Referat auf höchstem Niveau. Presse und Medien waren mit Martin Rüegsegger (der Farang) und Peter Schlegel (Global-TV) kompetent vertreten.

Seit über 20 Jahren SSB Mitglied und unsere heutigen Gastgeber, die Erfolgsgastronomen Kim und Pascal mit ihren Auszeichnung u.a. als „Luxuriöses Restaurant in Thailand“ 2015 und mit dem begehrten Award zum „Fine-Dining-Restaurant des Jahres 2016“ überraschten mit drei unterschiedlichen Hauptgänge im feinen Menü.

Informativ orientierte unser Generalkonsul Pierre Chabloz über seine vielseitigen Aufgaben. In Thailand hat er seine konsularische Karriere vor 30 Jahren gestartet und ist nun nach seinen vielseitigen Herausforderungen, zuletzt in Moskau, jetzt zu seinem zweiten Einsatz in Bangkok.

Im Konsularcenter für Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Laos und Kambodscha sind zurzeit insgesamt 11‘181 Personen angemeldet, davon 9‘790 in Thailand, 33,9 % im Alter 65+. Somit leben die meisten Schweizer in Asien in Thailand.

Auch dezentral steht man mit der mobilen Passstation einmal jährlich im Einsatz; Chiang Mai, Phuket und wenn genügend Anmeldungen: Vientiane, Phnom Penh, Kuala Lumpur und Yangoon Nebst der Betreuung der Eidgenossen ist das Center auch für Visa zuständig, 2019 wurden 42‘700 Visa ausgestellt.

Weitere Aufgaben und Zahlen: Schweizer Besucher in Thailand 226‘000 im Jahr 2018, im Jahr 2019: Betreuung von SKS Fällen 434, Betreuung von Haftfällen 39, Gefängnisbesuche 35, Ausstellung von Rentenbestätigungen 3‘000, diverses Bestätigungen/Beglaubigungen 4‘971, Pässe und ID-Karte1‘054, Zivilstandsakten (Geburt/Heirat/Tod etc.) 1‘534.

Schweizer Strafgefangene befinden sich in Gefängnissen in Malaysia, Kambodscha und Thailand. Entsprechend aufwendig ist Betreuung mit 2 bis 3 Besuchen pro Jahr. Keine Intervention seitens der Botschaft ist bei Gerichtsverhandlungen und Anhörungen möglich.

Dank dem Überstellungsabkommen Schweiz – Thailand ist ein Überstellungsantrag nach 1/3 der Haftstrafe in ein Schweizer Gefängnis möglich. Die Botschaft kann in den folgenden Fällen keine Hilfeleisten: Bussen (z.B. Overstay), Schulden, Anwaltskosten. Dank Online Diensten und Formularen werden die Abläufe in Zukunft schneller und einfacher.

Eines der Projekte in naher Zukunft sind Vorträge in Zusammenarbeit mit der Auslandschweizer Organisation ASO über Testamente, Krankenversicherung, Rechtsanwalt und Bestattungsinstitut

41 SSB members didn’t want to miss this highlight; top standard culinary delight and speech. Press and media were present with Martin Ruegsegger (der Farang) and Peter Schlegel (Gloval-TV). The successful gastronomes, Kim and Pascal Schnyder, SSB members for the last 20 years, owning different awards, such as e.g. “luxurious restaurant in Thailand 2015”, and “fine-dining-restaurant of the year 2016” surprised us with a choice of three different main courses of an extraordinary menu.

Our General Counsel Pierre Chabloz informed us about his various duties. He started his consular career 30 years ago in Thailand. After many commitments for Switzerland and around the world, last year in Moscow, he now joined for the second time the Swiss Embassy in Bangkok. 11,181 persons (living in Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Laos and Cambodia) are actually registered in the consular center in Bangkok, thereof 9,790 in Thailand, and 33,9% of the persons living in Thailand are in the age frame of 65+. Thailand seems to be the most attractive country for Swiss citizens. Pierre Chabloz is “touring” with his mobile passport office every year to Chiang Mai, Phuket and - if there is a sufficient number of registrations – to Vientiane, Phnom Penh, Kuala Lumpur and Yangoon. Besides the care and support for Swiss nationals, he is responsible for the visa section. 42,700 visas were issued in the year 2019.

Additional duties and figures from the Swiss Embassy: 226,000 Swiss visitors in Thailand in the year 2018. Figures from the year 2019: Support service of 434 SKS cases, support care of 39 prisoners, 35 visits in prisons, 3,000 issued certificates for retired Swiss citizens, 4,971 various confirmations and legalizations, 1,054 issued passports and ID cards, 1,534 marital status documents (birth, marriage, dead, etc.). Swiss prisoners are sitting in prisons in Malaysia, Cambodia and Thailand. The care of these persons is demanding with 2 – 3 visits yearly. The intervention of the Swiss Embassy is not possible at court proceedings and hearings. Thanks to the transfer agreement between Switzerland and Thailand, a transfer of prisoners to a Swiss prison is possible after 1/3 of the prison term is served. The Embassy cannot support Swiss nationals with the following issues: fines (e.g. overstay), liabilities and costs for lawyers.

The support will be easier and faster in future as more and more processes can be handled online with forms. One of the projects within the near future are presentations in cooperation with the organization of the Swiss abroad ASO regarding last will, health insurance, lawyers and funeral institutes.
