731. Schweizer Nationalfeiertag, 731ème Fête Nationale Suisse , 731th Swiss National Day

August 1th party at the Swiss Embassy - a firework:
- 227 good-humored and cheerful guests
- big "castling" in the embassy team
- sensational buffet by Gourmet Primo of the BAC Group -"same as every time"
A few meters after the registration already the first glass of Fendant wine for the apero, offered this year again by the Embassy - Thank you very much.
Our president, Christian Brunner, welcomed and informed professionally and relaxed about the most important facts and the schedule of the party.
With the promotion of Ambassador Helene Budliger Artieda to the head of the important federal office SECO, the well-deserved retirement of Consul General Pierre Chabloz and the transfer of Consul Silvia Spahn to New Delhi, India, of course a lot of experience and know how has "left".
Now Deputy Ambassador Conradin Rasi has taken over the management of the Embassy and the day-to-day business on an interim basis.
In his speech he reviewed very briefly the past year and informed about the manifold activities. Of course, the attendees were especially curious about the introduction of the new "crew"

- In the coming weeks the new ambassador PEDRO ZWAHLEN from Canberra, Australia will arrive in Bangkok.
- JACQUES BAUDEVIN, Consul and Head of the Regional Consular Center in Bangkok
- JEAN-CLAUDE RAY, Chief of Finance, Personnel and Administration
- RUBBEN BEGERT, chief of security for all of Southeast Asia
- NATHALIA SANTANGELO, Consular Officer. She already took good care of me yesterday Friday while collecting biometric data for my new passport.
Embassy employee and sound manager BARBARA MIESES made sure that we heard the speech of the President of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis in perfect Italian.
I felt really solemn when everyone stood up for the royal Thai Royal anthem and then sang along in large numbers "Trittst im Morgenrot daher.....".

The "compulsory program" completed, Christian Brunner opened the buffet. Under the direction of Khun DIREK the Gourmet Primo team had prepared excellent salads, crispy sausages and above all a very versatile bread assortment, see photos.
The CEO of Bangkok Air Catering, LINUS KNOBEL offered a cheese and dessert buffet that left nothing to be desired, even freshly baked "Öpfelchüechli" and Mövenpick ice cream were available.
My only regret was that one of the main organizers of this successful party, SSB Vice President Josef Schnyder, could not be present due to a recent Covid infection - get well soon!

- the team of the Swiss Embassy for the excellent hospitality, the generous aperitif and the active participation in the organization and realization of this event;
- Linus Knobel and the BAC Group, as well as Gourmet Primo with Khun Dirk and his very service-oriented, professional team;
- Last, but not least, to the team of SSB with Christian Brunner and his colleagues in the Committee, especially Thomas Gerber, who was responsible for the box office for probably the last time after 20 years.

1. August Party in der Schweizer Botschaft ein Feuerwerk:

- 227 aufgestellte und fröhliche Gäste
- grosse «Rochade» im Botschaftsteam
- "wie alle Jahre" sensationelles Buffet von Gourmet Primo der BAC Group

Wenige Meter nach der Registration bereits das erste Glas Fendant zum Apero, auch dieses Jahr wieder von der Botschaft offeriert - besten Dank.
Unser Präsident, Christian Brunner, begrüsste und orientierte alle professionell und locker über die wichtigsten Fakten und den Verlauf der Party.
Mit der Beförderung der Botschafterin Helene Budliger Artieda zur Chefin des wichtigen Bundesamtes SECO, der wohlverdienten Pensionierung von Generalkonsul Pierre Chabloz und der Versetzung von Konsulin Silvia Spahn nach New Delhi, Indien, ist natürlich viel Erfahrung und Know-How «abgereist».
Nun hat der stellvertretende Botschafter, Conradin Rasi, interimsweise die Leitung der Botschaft und die laufenden Geschäfte übernommen.
In seiner Ansprache liess er das vergangene Jahr ganz kurz Revue passieren und orientierte über die vielseitigen
Aktivitäten. Besonders neugierig waren die Anwesenden natürlich auf die Vorstellung der neuen «Crew»:

- In den kommenden Wochen wird der neue Botschafter PEDRO ZWAHLEN von Canberra, Australien, in Bangkok eintreffen.
- JACQUES BAUDEVIN, Konsul und Chef des Regionalen Konsular Centers in Bangkok,
- JEAN-CLAUDE RAY, Chef Finanzen, Personal und Administration
- RUBBEN BEGERT, Sicherheitschef für ganz Südostasien.
- NATHALIA SANTANGELO, konsularische Mitarbeiterin. Sie hat mich bereits gestern Freitag bei der Erfassung der biometrischen Daten für meinen neuen Pass bestens betreut.

Botschaftsmitarbeiterin und Soundmanagerin BARBARA MIESES sorgte dafür, dass wir die Ansprache des Bundespräsidenten Ignazio Cassis in perfektem Italienisch hörten.
Wirklich feierlich empfand ich es, als alle zur königlichen Thai Royal Hymne aufstanden und anschliessend zahlreich "Trittst im Morgenrot daher……" mitsangen.

«Pflichtprogramm» abgeschlossen, Christian Brunner eröffnet das Buffet. Unter der Leitung von Khun DIREK hatte das
Gourmet Primo Team hervorragende Salate, knackige Würste und vor allem ein sehr vielseitiges Brotsortiment
bereitgestellt (siehe Fotos).
Der CEO der Bangkok Air Catering, LINUS KNOBEL offerierte ein Käse- und Dessertbuffet, das keine Wünsche offenliess, sogar frisch gebackene «Öpfelchüechli» und Mövenpick Glace gab es.
Ich bedauerte nur, dass einer der Hauptorganisatoren dieser gelungenen Party, SSB Vizepräsident Josef Schnyder, leider mit Covid, nicht anwesend sein konnte – gute Besserung!

- das Team der schweizerischen Botschaft für die hervorragende Gastfreundschaft, den grosszügigen Apero und die aktive Beteiligung bei Organisation und Durchführung;
- Linus Knobel und die BAC Group sowie Gourmet Primo mit Khun Dirk und seinem sehr Dienstleistung orientierten, professionellen Team;
- Last, but not least, an das Team der SSB mit Christian Brunner und seinen Vorstandskollegen, besonders auch Thomas Gerber, der nach 20 Jahren voraussichtlich zum letzten Mal verantwortlich war für die Abendkasse.
