Thai Fight League @ BEAT Active Arena

04.06.2023: Muay Thai or Thai Boxing is the national sport and cultural martial art of Thailand. It was developed several hundreds of years ago as a form of close-combat that utilizes the entire body as a weapon. It is a combat sport that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. This discipline is known as the "Art of eight limbs", as it is characterised by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees and shins. Thai Fight is a Muay Thai promotion based in Bangkok, which hosts events worldwide and all across Thailand. Thai Fight events are produced in conjunction with the Tourism Authority of Thailand. We got the chance to get some promotional tickets for the Swiss Society to see some fights at the BEAT Active Arena on Sunday, 4 June. The ambiance in the station was phenomenal. For newcomers it was probably a bit brutal; the boxers do not use gloves, only bandages. Some fights ended with a k.o. and some fighters had to be carried away on a baren.
